Head of Education - Uttar Pradesh, India
Key Responsibilities
Providing strategic oversight for and planning of a comprehensive,
child-friendly programme of primary and secondary education in line with
national/international standards.
Providing substantial input into
the launch and implementation of a participatory curriculum.
Managing day-to-day school operations, finances, and human
resources.
Liaising with local and national education sector
officials, district schools, boards PPES Board and donors. Skills and
Competences
Extensive experience managing primary and secondary
educational institutions, with good knowledge of curriculum development,
teacher training, and child-focused programmes.
Good interpersonal
and communication skills, including in cross-cultural and diverse
contexts.
Fluency in English (written and spoken). Hindi an asset.
Commitment to learn basic Hindi prior to departure desired.
Post-secondary degree in education preferred. Acceptable
combination of post-secondary credentials, training, and experience will
be considered.
Proven ability to lead and work effectively with
others to achieve results.
Strong training, capacity building and
facilitation skills.
Flexibility and stamina essential.
Demonstrable knowledge of gender and diversity issues.
General
knowledge of the Uttar Pradesh educational context.
Ability to live
in rural areas and hardship conditions.
Minimum one year
commitment.
Compensation 30,000 rupees per month paid in local currency
(approximately $600). One return best-rate economy-class air fare and
monetary bonus on successful completion of contract.
