Meet Jyoti

As one can tell from her picture, Jyoti is a joy -- sweet, friendly, and always smiling! Her positive and warm attitude doesn't give away the hard realities of her life -- a father who is an alcoholic, a one room home for her and her five siblings, meals prepared and eaten in the yard, alongside the family animals.

An eighth grader, Jyoti is the third member of her family to attend Pardada Pardadi, and her two sisters (Arti and Pooja) also share Jyoti's positive demeanor. Jyoti loves to dance and play at school, and she is determined to become a teacher one day.
